What is a CNA and Personal Care Assistant?
A CNA stands for Certified Nursing Assistant. We hire CNA's and personal Care Assistants because of their state certification and/or their extensive training. They must successfully pass a state test to receive a certification. Personal Care Assistants must pass a training competency test provided by Compassionate Concern Home Care.
Does A or a Personal Care Assistant Give Medications?
No, but they may remind the client to take their medication.All clients and residents are to self-administer their medications. We assist with the medications when pre-poared by a family member or a health professional. CCHC is a non-medical homecare support service.
How much experience does the CNA or Personal Care Assistant have?
At least two years. Personal Care Assistants must have background in the caregiving field. Background and reference checks are performed on all employees. This is not only required by Compassionate Concern Home Care, it is required by the State of Pennsylvania.
What is Skilled Care?
Skilled care refers to a level that requires more involved assistance. For example: Tranferring from a chair to a bed, or bed to a chair. Assistance with feeding,Dementia Care, Alzheimers Disease care, bathing, repositioning, tolieting needs, incontinence care, dressing and undressing. We make a referral to a medical agency when a medical need arises.

Compassionate Concern Home Care hires only experienced, trained individuals.
Experience is the key to excellent care giving. CCHC will not hire anyone below 2 years of training and experience.
In addition, a test is distributed to our state certified caregivers with the interviewing process.
They must pass with a 95% on the test.
The test is a review and is discussed when completed.

What Is Home Care?
Home Care is a support service to provide care in your home. We strive to make your life of excellent quality. A facility will provide you with care, but you will not receive the "one on one" care you need as an individual. Studies have shown when you are in your own home and in familiar surroundings, your quality of life is the best. You are able to have a vivid picture of the past, present, and future. This is possible by staying in your own home.
What Is Personal Care?
Personal Care will assist you in many areas:
*Assistance with grooming needs, such as hair care, shaving, cleaning teeth and routine nail care.
*Supervising or assisting with tub baths, showers, sponge baths, bed baths.
*Providing routine skin care such as applying lotion to dry skin.
*Assisting with mobilization activities including walking, turning, exercise and transferring.
*Assisting in self-administration of medication by reminding clients to take them as prescribed and/or following up to ensure they are taken.
*Monitoring vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respiration.
*Providing respite care and palliative care.
Personal care is: Assistance with your activities of daily living.
Do You Only Take Care Of The Elderly?
Primarily, the elderly are who need our services. Home Care services are also available to the disabled adult. We are exceptionally oriented, and have the background for both the elderly and disabled adult.
What is the Initial Process?
Initially, the CNA's attend at least two interviews. References are carefully reviewed and checked. A criminal background and state background check is also performed before hiring.
The certified caregiver will be brought to the home for the client to meet and interview.
The caregiver must perform the duties expected from the owner/coordinator. The client and/or family also must approve and have similar interests so this can form a genuine relationship between the client and caregiver.
The owner will make visits to assure great satisfaction.
What Does Medicare Cover?
We are a private pay organization. However, when a need for nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, social service, hospice is evaluated, we make the appropriate referral. Once you become admitted through a medical home support service, medicare will cover the expenses for medical services.
What is Respite Care?
Respite care is for families who need a break to shop, vacation, attend their own doctor appointments and cannot leave their loved ones at home alone.
We would take over the hours needed from the family member and provide the best quality of care possible.
Is It More Expensive To Stay At Home?
Depending on what a individual's needs are, staying home can be less expensive than nursing home costs.
Quality and special attention are the two important factors loved ones should be searching when making a decision to stay home.
